| FRIED ASPARAGUS |

3 or 4 servings1 pound fresh asparagus or 1 package (10 ounces) frozen asparagus spears 2 tablespoons CRISCO all-vegetable shortening or 2 tablespoons CRISCO Stick 1 tablespoon lemon juice Dash salt Dash pepper If using fresh asparagus, wash and trim the bottoms. Cut fresh or frozen asparagus in 1/2-inch diagonal slices. Melt Crisco in a large heavy skillet and sauté asparagus for about 5 minutes, tossing frequently. Add lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Serve hot. |
