| FRENCH-FRIED ONION RINGS |

8 servings2 large onions, peeled and cut in 1/4 inch slices 1 cup milk CRISCO Shortening for deep frying 1 cup all-purpose flour 1/8 teaspoon salt Separate onion slices into rings. Place in shallow dish. Pour milk over onions. Soak 30 minutes. Turn twice. Heat 2 or 3 inches Crisco to 365ºF in deep fryer or deep saucepan. Combine flour and salt in paper or plastic bag. Add onion rings, a few at a time. Shake to coat. Fry, a few at a time, in shortening heated to 365ºF. Fry about 2 or 3 minutes or until golden brown. Turn once. Drain on paper towels. Salt lightly. Serve immediately. |
