| MUSHROOM CHEESE BURGERS |

Preparation Time: 15 minutes Total Time: 30 minutes 4 servings3 tablespoons CRISCO Oil, divided 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms 1/2 small onion, peeled and chopped (about 1/4 cup) 1 teaspoon jarred minced garlic (or 1 small garlic clove, peeled and minced) 1 pound lean ground beef 1 cup shredded Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Swiss cheese (or your favorite blend of cheeses) 3 tablespoons plain bread crumbs 2 tablespoons milk 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves 4 crusty French rolls, toasted if desired For serving: your favorite burger fixings Heat 2 tablespoons Crisco Oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, onion and garlic. Sauté 5 minutes, stirring often, or until onions are soft. Scrape mixture into mixing bowl. Wipe out skillet with paper towels. Combine mushroom mixture with beef, cheese, bread crumbs, milk, salt, pepper and thyme. Mix well. Form 4 ovals in shape and size of rolls. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon Crisco Oil in wiped out skillet on medium-high heat. Add burgers. Cook 4 to 5 minutes. Turn with spatula. Cook 4 to 5 minutes, or to desired doneness. Serve on rolls with favorite burger fixings. |
