Preparation time: about 15 minutes Baking and standing time: about 35 minutes 12 Servings 1 cup all-vegetable shortening or 1 Butter Flavor CRISCO Stick Butter Flavor CRISCO 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar 1 egg 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1-1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/4 cup chopped s walnut topping Whipped Sweetened whipped cream Heat oven to 350ºF. Cream Butter Flavor Crisco Shortening and brown sugar in large bowl. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour and salt. Mix until blended. Put dough into ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Smooth out dough. Bake at 350ºF for 18 to 20 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove from oven. Sprinkle chocolate pieces over hot baked layer. Cover with aluminum foil. Let stand 4 minutes. Remove foil. Spread chocolate evenly over top. Sprinkle with nuts. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut in large squares while still warm. Place on dessert plates. Serve plain or topped with whipped topping or sweetened whipped cream. Note: May also be cooled completely, cut into bars and served as cookies. 24 bar cookies. |
