Two 9-inch layers2/3 cup Butter Flavor CRISCO 1-3/4 cups sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons cocoa 2 tablespoons red food coloring 1 cup buttermilk 2-1/3 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 recipe Fluffy Frosting Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour two 9-inch round layer pans. Set aside. In large mixing bowl cream Butter Flavor Crisco, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. In 1-cup measure combine cocoa and food coloring, stirring until smooth. Blend into creamed mixture. Add buttermilk, flour, baking soda and salt. Beat at low speed of electric mixer until blended, scraping bowl constantly. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350ºF for 35 to 40 minutes, or until center springs back when touched lightly. Cool for 5 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool completely. Frost with Fluffy Frosting. |
