| RAISIN OAT TREATS |

Makes 6 dozen1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup uncooked oats 3/4 cup CRISCO Shortening 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup packed dark brown sugar 1 egg 3/4 cup raisins Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt; mix in oats and set aside. Cream Crisco with vanilla extract; add brown sugar gradually, beating until fluffy. Add egg and beat thoroughly. Add the dry ingredients in fourths, mixing until well blended after each addition. Stir in raisins. Shape into 6 x 1-1/2-inch rolls. Wrap each roll and chill several hours or overnight. Cut each roll into 1-inch slices. Cut each slice into quarters. Place each quarter point-side-up on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375ºF for 7 to 8 minutes. |
