| ORANGE POUND CAKE LOAF |

1 cup CRISCO 1-1/4 cups sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon grated orange peel 4 eggs 2 cups sifted cake flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground mace 1/4 cup milk Preheat oven to 325ºF. In mixing bowl, blend Crisco, sugar, vanilla, and orange peel. Blend in eggs. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and mace; add alternately with the milk to the shortening-sugar mixture. Beat well. Spread batter in a well-greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 325ºF about 1-1/4 hours or until the cake tests done. Cool 15 minutes; remove cake from pan and cool completely on rack. |
