Makes a 13 x 9 x 2-inch cake2 cups sifted flour 1-3/4 cups sugar 1/2 cup cocoa 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder 2/3 cup CRISCO Oil 1 cup buttermilk 1 cup strong, hot coffee Preheat oven to 350ºF. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, baking soda and baking powder in large mixing bowl. Add Crisco oil, and buttermilk. Stir in coffee heated to boiling. (Mixture will be quite thin.) Pour batter into greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350ºF for 35-40 minutes. Cool 15-20 minutes, then remove from pan. Let cool completely before frosting. |
