12 to 14 servings2-1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour 2 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1/4 cup CRISCO shortening 1 can (17 ounces) fruit cocktail (undrained) 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate pieces 1/2 cup chopped nuts Preheat oven to 350ºF. Combine all ingredients except chocolate and nuts in a large mixer bowl. Blend at low speed until moistened; beat for 2 minutes at medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan; sprinkle with chocolate pieces and nuts. Bake at 350ºF for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. |
