Makes 3-1/2 dozen cookies1/2 cup Butter Flavor CRISCO Shortening or 1/2 Butter Flavor CRISCO Stick 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup sour milk or (1/4 cup milk plus 3/4 teaspoon cider vinegar, let stand 5 minutes) 1 teaspoon vanilla 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans 1 cup coarsely chopped dates 1 cup chopped red and green candied cherries (optional) Heat oven to 400ºF. Grease baking sheet. Cream Butter Flavor Crisco and brown sugar in large bowl at medium speed of electric mixer. Beat in egg. Beat in milk and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Add nuts and fruit. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto baking sheet. Bake at 400ºF for 7-8 minutes. Remove to cooling racks. Dust warm cookies with confectioners' sugar as desired. |
