HEAVENLY ALMOND TREATS Print E-mail
Makes about 4 Dozen Cookies

1 cup Butter flavor Crisco-all vegetable shortening or 1 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
2/3 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups flake coconut
2 cups milk chocolate chips
1 cup slivered almonds


Heat oven to 375ºF.
Combine Butter Flavor Crisco, brown sugar and granulated sugar in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.
Combine egg, milk, vanilla and almond extract. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed until blended.
Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed until just blended. Stir in, one at a time, coconut, chocolate chips and nuts.
Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Form dough into 3 x 1-inch ovals.
Bake at 375ºF for 12 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool 3 minutes on baking sheet. Remove to cooling rack.
