FATHER'S DAY TIE COOKIE Print E-mail

Cookie
2/3 cup Butter Flavor Crisco or 2/3 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 -1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Creamy Vanilla Frosting

1/2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco all-vegetable shortening or 1/2 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
4 cups (1 pound) powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Food color

Cookie
Combine 2/3 cup Butter Flavor Crisco, sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat in egg.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed until well blended.
Heat oven to 375ºF.
Spread the dough into an 11 x 9-inch baking pan lined with parchment paper, cut large enough to hang over the long sides of the pan.
Place a sheet of parchment or waxed paper over the dough to make spreading easier. Remove the sheet used for spreading before baking.
Bake at 375ºF for 15-20 minutes, or until set. Place on cooling rack and allow to cool completely.
Refrigerate before frosting, as a chilled cookie is easier to frost. Lift cooled cookie out of pan using the parchment paper "handles".

Creamy Vanilla Frosting
Combine 1/2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla in a medium bowl.
Beat at low speed of electric mixer until well blended. Scrape bowl. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes, or until smooth and creamy. (Note: for an even whiter frosting use regular Crisco in place of Butter Flavor Crisco.)
Remove 1/2 cup of frosting and add drops of food color for desired color. Frosting can be used to outline collar and tie by piping with a pastry bag or zipper bag with small tip of corner cut off.

Decoration Variations
Use shoelace licorice for lines.
Add a pocket or write "Happy Father's Day" along bottom.
Color dad's shirt, reserve 1/2 cup frosting before tinting remaining frosting.
Wrap your present by placing pan cookie on a sheet of wax paper and lower into a shirt box. The wax paper looks like tissue paper. (Be careful the lid doesn't touch your designed cookie!)
