| CHOCOLATE RAISIN CLUSTERS |

Makes 5 dozen cookies1-1/2 cups raisins 1/2 cup CRISCO all-vegetable shortening or 1/2 CRISCO Stick 1 cup packed brown sugar 1 egg 2 ounces (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup milk 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Preheat oven to 350ºF. Rinse and drain raisins; set aside. Cream Crisco and brown sugar in a bowl. Add egg and beat thoroughly. Blend in melted chocolate and vanilla extract. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Stir in raisins and walnuts. Drop by level tablespoons about 2 inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350ºF far about 15 minutes. Cool cookies on racks. Frost cooled cookies with chocolate frosting, if desired. |
