Makes One 8-inch Pie 8 ServingsCRUST 8-inch Classic CRISCO Double Pie Crust FILLING 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2/3 cup dark corn syrup 2/3 cup light corn syrup 1/4 cup Crisco Butter Flavor Shortening or 1/4 Butter Flavor Crisco stick 3 eggs 1 square (1 ounce) unsweetened chocolate, melted 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup walnut pieces 1/4 cup shredded coconut 1/4 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips 6 walnut halves For crust, prepare (see Classic Crisco Pie Crust recipe). Do not bake. Heat oven to 450ºF. For filling, combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, light corn syrup, dark corn syrup, Crisco Butter Flavor shortening, eggs, unsweetened chocolate, vanilla and salt in large bowl. Blend well. Fold in nut pieces, coconut and chocolate chips. Pour into unbaked pie crust. Top with nut halves. Bake at 450ºF for 10 minutes. REDUCE OVEN TEMPERATURE TO 375ºF. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until filling is set in center. Cover edge with foil, if necessary, to prevent overbrowning. Cool to room temperature before serving. |
