CHOCOLATE FILLED BONBONS Print E-mail
Makes 3 dozen cookies

1/2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco all-vegetable shortening or 1/2 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 -2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
36 small chocolate candies
36 nut halves


Heat oven to 400ºF. Place sheets of foil on countertop for cooling cookies.
Combine shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed with electric mixer.
Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into creamed mixture.
Press two level measuring teaspoonfuls of dough around each chocolate candy, covering candy completely. Place nut half on top of each. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake for 6 to 7 minutes. Cookies will not brown. Do not overbake. Press nuts gently into hot cookies. Cool on baking sheet 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove cookies to foil to cool completely.
