| CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE TIERS |

Makes 30 bars1/3 cup CRISCO Shortening or 1/3 CRISCO Stick 2 ounces (2 squares) unsweetened chocolate 2 eggs 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 cup sifted all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup chopped salted pecans (or chopped unsalted pecans) Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting: 1 package (3 ounces) cream cheese, softened 1 ounce (1 square) semisweet chocolate, melted 1-1/2 cups confectioners' sugar 1 tablespoon milk Preheat oven to 350ºF. For Chocolate Layer, melt Crisco and chocolate together; set aside to cool. Beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract until thick. Add cooled chocolate mixture and beat until blended. Stir in flour and salt, then pecans. Turn into a greased ll x 7 x l-1/2-inch pan and spread evenly. Bake at 350ºF for 25 minutes. Cool in pan on a rack. For Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting, combine all ingredients in a small mixer bowl and beat until smooth and of spreading consistency. Spread on chocolate layer. Chill and cut into bars. |
