| CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE BARS |

Makes about 3 Dozen Bars 1 -1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar 3/4 cup Butter Flavor Crisco all-vegetable shortening or 3/4 Butter Flavor Crisco stick 2 tablespoons milk 1 tablespoon vanilla 2 eggs 1 -3/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 3/4 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup (6 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans (optional)* Heat oven to 350ºF. Spray 13 x 9-inch baking pan with Crisco No-Stick Cooking Spray. Place cooling rack on countertop. Place brown sugar, Butter Flavor Crisco all-vegetable shortening, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add egg; beat well. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add to shortening mixture; beat at low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans, if desired. Press dough evenly onto bottom of prepared pan. Bake at 350ºF for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned and firm in the center. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool completely on cooling rack. Cut into 2 x 1-1/2-inch bars. * If pecans are omitted, add an additional 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. |
