| APPLESAUCE SPICE CAKE |

Makes one 2-layer cake2/3 cup Butter Flavor Crisco or 2/3 Butter Flavor Crisco stick 1-1/2 cups sugar 2 eggs 1 jar (15 oz.) applesauce (about 1-1/2 cups) 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice Dash ground nutmeg Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour two 9-inch round layer pans. Set aside. In large mixing bowl cream Butter Flavor Crisco, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Add applesauce, flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cloves, allspice and nutmeg. Beat at low speed of electric mixer until blended, scraping bowl constantly. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350ºF for 35 to 45 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove from pans. Cool completely. |
