APPLE WALNUT PIZZA PIE Print E-mail
Makes 6 to 8 servings

Pizza crust
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons granulated sugar
1-1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup CRISCO Canola Oil
4 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon almond extract

Pizza topping

4 medium Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, quartered, and sliced thin)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup tightly packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons raisins
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
6 tablespoons apple butter
1/2 cup grated coconut


Heat oven to 400ºF.
For pizza crust, combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt in large bowl; mix well. Whisk together oil, milk, and almond extract in small bowl until well blended. Slowly pour oil mixture into flour mixture while stirring with fork until mixed well and crumbly.
Spray 12-inch pizza pan with CRISCO No-Stick Cooking Spray. Press crumb mixture with fingers firmly onto bottom and side of pan. Bake at 400ºF for about 10 minutes or until golden brown; remove. Reduce oven to 350ºF.
For pizza topping, combine apples, walnuts, brown sugar, raisins, cinnamon, and vanilla in large bowl; mix well.
Spread apple butter evenly over baked pizza crust. Place apple mixture on top. Sprinkle with coconut "cheese." Bake at 350ºF for 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from oven and serve warm or at room temperature. Cut into "pizza slices" and garnish with whipped cream.
