| ALL-AMERICAN APPLE PIE |

Prep time: 30 minutes Bake time: 30-40 minutes Makes a 9-inch PieUnbaked Classic CRISCO Double Crust 6 medium cooking apples 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 tablespoon butter or margarine Glaze 1 egg white, lightly beaten 2 teaspoons granulated sugar Heat oven to 400°F. Prepare Classic Crisco Crusts (3 crusts total); reserve one crust for star garnish. Press one crust into 9-inch pie plate. Do not bake. Pare, core and slice apples; toss with the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Turn into pastry-lined 9-inch pie plate; dot with butter. Moisten edges with water; cover with top crust. Seal and flute edge. Brush with egg white glaze. Cut slits for escape of steam. Roll reserved Classic Crisco Crust to 1/8-inch thickness. With small 1-1/2-inch star cookie cutter, cut 20-25 stars. Place 1 star on rim of top crust; brush with egg glaze. Place another star, brush with egg glaze. Repeat until rim is covered. Sprinkle top with sugar.Bake at 400°F for 30-40 minutes, until pie is desired brownness and apples are tender. Cover the top with foil during baking if necessary to prevent over browning. |
