| GARLIC HERBED PITA TOAST |

Prep time: 10 minutes Bake time: 5-8 minutes Serves 6-84 6-inch pita (plain, whole wheat or flavored) breads 1/4 cup CRISCO Oil 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (optional) Heat oven to 425ºF. Cover baking sheets with heavy duty aluminum foil. Cut pita breads in half. Separate two layers of each half; you should have 16 pieces. Brush each piece with Crisco Oil. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and cheese. Arrange slices on baking sheets. Bake at 425ºF 5 to 7 minutes, or until brown and crisp. Serve warm. Note: Any combination of herbs can be used for this recipe. Any leftover toasts can be stored in air-tight containers for up to 3 days. |
