| SWEET CHEESE THUMBPRINTS |

Makes 3-1/2 dozen1/2 cup CRISCO all-vegetable shortening or 1/2 CRISCO Stick 2 cups finely shredded Swiss cheese 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 tablespoons water Liver sausage spread Sweet gherkins, sliced Pimiento-stuffed green olives, sliced Preheat oven to 425ºF. Put Crisco into a mixer bowl. Add Swiss cheese gradually, beating at medium speed until fairly smooth. Combine flour and salt; add to cheese mixture alternately with water. Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough to form 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Make an indentation in center of each ball; fill with 1/2 teaspoon liver sausage spread. Top with a pickle or olive slice as desired. Bake at 425ºF for 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm. |
